Prem-I-Air 12-inch High Velocity Air Circulator

For a number of years after my Grandma popped her clogs, we had the use of her old Tefal Deskfan to keep us cool in our house during the warmer days. Unfortunately last year that fan ceased to work too. Well, it still worked but the plastic used in it’s construction went off, got all brittle, had chunks fall off it, and the wire mesh fell off the front of it after the plastic no longer held on it via tension ‘cos a piece fell off. I fixed it best I could with aluminium flashing tape, but then my Dad knocked it off again, and tried fixing it himself….. but

How to make money online by blogging

If you’re reading this, you may already know what a blog is. If not, then a blog can be used to write a personal diary or as a platform to write online articles similar to the kind of thing that’ve been appearing in Newspapers & Magazines for years. Many people do this, and don’t earn s***, probably because they aren’t that fussed about earning from their blog, but in other cases they just don’t really know how to do it properly, or they just don’t put the effort in. There are other people who do this, who claim to make $1000’s doing it, and even write books to boast about

This “Instagram” app is starting to annoy me…

The way the Instagram app is now is kind of annoying me. When I first put it on my newer phone (Nokia Windows 8.1 thingy), the stuff people I followed posted popped up on the front page as they posted it. Now they seem to have changed it to show hi-lighted stuff that’s like “1 day ago” “1 Week ago”, “4 days ago”, etc….. it’d be faster to keep up with what they’re doing if they took a polaroid instant print and sent it to me via carrier pigeon. Too much of a pain in the butt to go to individual profiles to keep up (Especially if like me you

Nokia Lumia 530 – Quick review

I bought one of these things last year, as my old iPhone 3GS had run into a few technical gremlins that were starting to piss me off. For starters the sound had quit working when it rang + the power button had fallen off. Also I couldn’t use the latest Apps on it ‘cos of the age of the OS on it. When I bought it, the Nokia Lumia 530 was still selling for around £69, but could be picked up for around £40 if you weren’t too fussy about the case colour. I largely bought it ‘cos of the price + I thought the Windows interface looked craploads better

How to cook Egg Noodles in a Microwave

This is actually easier than it sounds. Normally you boil them in a pan of water for about 3-5minutes. To do this in a microwave, all you need is……. 1) A Packet of dried Egg Noodles (e.g. Blue Dragon brand) 2) A Kettle full of boiling water 3) A Pyrex Glass Bowl 4) Some flavourings (optional) 5) A Microwave Put the kettle on to boil (making sure it has water in it), place the nest of noodles in the bottom of the bowl. At this stage you can add your flavourings to make the noodles more interesting. I like to use curry powder to make curried noodles, but you can

Idiots guide to dabbling in Forex

Forex is short for “Foreign Exchange”, and is basically swapping over currency from one country for one from another – For instance swapping your British Pounds (GBP / £) for US Dollars (USD / £), like you may do when going on Holiday (Vacation), or in this instance for investing purposes. For investing purposes, this is basically done by taking advantage of changes in value for the currency over the passage of time. Thanks to the same technology you’re using to read this article, you can keep tabs on it via the internet at a dedicated Foreign Exchange website. In order to do it for the purposes of investing you

Review: DIY for Dummies

This review is for the Kindle preview version of DIY for Dummies. Well it’s not bad as a DIY book, just not quite as good as the trusty old “Reader’s Digest” + “Collins” DIY manuals that have long been the go-to book for most British DIY’ers. Found the suggested tools list a bit questionable, like it seems to suggest mole-grips pliers… but doesn’t mention the other types you also need (regular, longnose + sidecutters) for doing tasks that require more finesse than working on pipes, etc. Also it suggests buying a neon mains tester as part of your toolkit. If you poke around on a certain well known video sharing

Best movies of the 1990’s

After the booming 80’s came the 1990’s, and more great movies, and here they are….. 1) Star Wars: Episode1: The Phantom Menace (1999)…. just when you thought Star Wars was done with the original 3 movies, back it came with this, the first of the Prequel trilogy. 2) Star Trek: First Contact (1996)… The 8th(?) of the original 10 `proper` Star Trek movies, and worth it just for the soundtrack alone. 3) Braveheart (1995)… stars Mel Gibson as Scottish hero William Wallace, though it is rather long at 2hrs 58minutes. 4) Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)… the 3rd and my favourite of the Die Hard movies. 5) Backdraft (1991)….
